I have been using Nexus 5X for a while now, and have already loaded this with Android N Beta. So far everything works great, except a few apps, and some rare Setting.apk crash. Overall performance of the phone is great and smooth. Battery performance is satisfactory, but not great. However the 3A fast charger provided helps to top up the battery quite fast.
The display on the 5X is OK, Good viewing angles, and viewable outdoors under Sunlight – if you are switching from a Samsung Galaxy Super AMOLED screen, you would definitely find this display less pleasing and attractive to your eyes. 2GB RAM (wish this had 3GB) is enough for most of your day to day tasks and games. However, expect occasional issues if you are running high end, memory hungry apps and games.
Nexus 5X Camera Performance. How good is it?
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have the same rear camera – 12MP Sony made sensor. This is one of the best cameras currently in a smartphone. In good lighting conditions, this take excellent sharp images. In low light situations, even though this has an F2.0 aperture lens, expect the images to be noisy. This is to be expected from any mobile phone, as the sensor size on these mobiles are tiny comparing to DSLRs. 120fps slow motion video is supported. 6P on the other hand can shoot 240fps since it has a better processor ( Snapdragon 810 – 5X has Snapdragon 808 ).
Manual Camera Mode i.e. Pro Mode, Which app to use ?
The default camera app on the Nexus 5X is just basic. It doesn’t allow you to shoot RAW ( as of this writing ) and doesn’t give you manual controls to adjust ISO, Shutterspeed, Manual Focus etc. So in order to get more creative with your photography, i would suggest you to install some other Pro app from the Playstore. I recommend installing Adobe Lightroom. There have now a Camera app in built, which allows you to shoot in DNG RAW as well as gives you PRO mode with manual controls. One other app i loved is Camera ZOOM FX Pro app ( not free ).
Reasons to buy a Nexus 5X over OnePlus 3 or any another smartphone in this price range?
If you look at other mobiles in this price range, you can easily conclude OnePlus 3 is the king, and the best value for money device out there. No other smartphone with 6GB of ram can be bought at this price. So the only reason to buy this or Nexus 6P should be the Stock Android software updates and monthly security updates Nexus 5X gets directly from Google.
Nexus 5X is officially supported for one more year. Android 7 Nougat OTA will be available as soon as Google releases the final stable version. This will also get the next major Android version ( probably Android 8 ). It will also get security updates for another two years. So basically you would be using the most secure Android smartphone with Nexus 5X ( or 6P ) for another two years or so.
Price : 16GB or 32GB ?
Current price of Nexus 5X 16GB and 32GB are around 25K online. You can get imported ones with only seller warranty for a much lesser price, however is not recommended since if in case you get a device with manufacturing defect, it would be difficult to replace or repair without LG India warranty.
16GB is enough if you don’t plan to install big games and all, and often backup your photos to the Cloud or to the computer. I would highly recommend to get the 32GB variant though.

What about Next Gen upcoming Nexus phones ( 2016 ) ? Should i wait for those ?
Next gen Nexus Phones are rumored to be made by HTC and coming in August – Sept 2016. Like last year, there will be two variants. A higher end one, successor to 6P and a mid range one successor to 5X. If you are not in a hurry, i would recommend waiting for those. However, don’t expect the pricing for those devices to be under 30K in India. So if you find this on a Deal for around 20K price, go grab it.
Issues Experience by other Buyers
Some reviewers are complaining about Manufacturing Defects. I am yet to experience any Hardware issues yet ( thankfully ). I will update the post if i ran in to any hardware issue.
